This site was developed to provide information on the south jetty extension at Ponce de Leon inlet. The project will have very significant impacts to one of the most popular and consistent surf breaks on the U.S. east coast. After several years of delay due to lack of funding this project is once again being pushed forward. Listed are several reasons why we need to very vigilant regarding this project.

1. First and foremost are the impacts to the surf breaks in New Smyrna.

2. The agencies involved need to reduce the projects budget substantially. This could lead to cheaper materials, design changes, and other cost cutting measures that could produce unanticipated negative results.

3. Any negative effect to New Smyrna's surf breaks would have detrimental effects  to our areas surf related economy. This industry employs upwards of 100 people and contributes millions annually to area businesses.
